01

Begin with a decision, not a number.

A useful report starts with the question someone needs to answer. Identify the audience, the reporting period and the decision before choosing metrics. A change in a count does not explain its cause. Keep a clear distinction between what a source records, what the team observes and what remains a hypothesis. This gives the reader a route from evidence to a considered next step.

02

Keep definitions and context visible.

Two figures may look comparable while describing different populations, periods or counting rules. Record the definition beside the metric and check whether a source or collection method changed. Explain gaps rather than silently filling them. A chart can summarise a pattern; the accompanying text should state the limits of that pattern and the evidence still needed.

03

Review the story before sharing it.

Read the proposed report from the recipient’s perspective. Can they identify the period, trace a figure to its source and tell which statements are observations? Separate a suggested action from an agreed commitment. ReportNivo’s planned reporting direction does not establish an operating data pipeline, automatic report delivery or a service turnaround. No actual reports or customer data are processed through this site.
